What is the purpose of the Church?

Posted by actsfiji at 03:10 AM on March 30, 2009

The word church has been defined as 1. A Building; 2. The Body of unseen Born Again Believers (universal); 3. A group of local believers worshiping together; The modern church has been involved in a much broader sense in comparison with the early church. Are we moving away from the mandate or is the church redefining her purpose? What exactly is the purpose of the church?

Theologically, the Church is the Body of Christ, missiologically the Church is an instrument to accomplish the "Mission of God" to expand His reign [His kingdom]on earth. Rick Warren suggests that the purpose of the Church into five categories:, Worship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism and fellowship. however, i disagree with his theologically because I believe Church is to worship God for eternity. While the rest is temporary, worship is forever and ever. Worship is not just singing and prayering, worship is our lifestyle, and total obedience to His will and pleasure, thus, mission, evangelism, ministry and fellowship is worshiping God for who He is. reaching the unreached people of this world is worshipping God and bringing new worshippers to Him.
