Introduction
The vision that led to the birth of ACTS Fiji began in 2007 and that has led to its establishment in 2009. It began from the burden of seeing the majority of our people in rural areas not having access to resources, training, and privileges that are available to those is the towns and cities, through Christian TV, Christian Radios, CDs, DVDs, Books, and etc.
During one of our visits to one of the communities in a rural area, we were asked by one of the Lay Pastoral Workers as to "what happens to our sin when we ask for forgiveness?" That was an encounter that has troubled me because it should be clear to someone in that role the truth about God's forgiveness and salvation. My heart has been drawn out to that community and to those alike, who may also be facing similar confusion regarding assurance and salvation.
The second being the stangnancy, lack of knowledge, and vision of the rural churches to be involved in world mission. My understanding is that the church in Fiji was heavily involved in mission around the pacific at one point. Our Missionaries went to the Solomons, Vanuatu, PNG, New Britain, New Caledonia, and even to Australia amongst the natives and minister to them the Good News. But then we lost this cutting edge of mission. The arrival of penticostal denominations have cause a resurgence in mission but this flame of fire has still not being caught by the main line churches. Our desire is to work with rural churches in this regard and look to the Lord for a rekindling of the Fire of Mission; that all Christian Denominations in Fiji will again be in partnership with the Lord and with one another, as well as other agencies in Fiji and around the world in reaching the unreached people groups around the world.
In this past two years I am being convinced that the blessings and spiritual growth of a local church will be sustained when it is able to grasp and obey the commission of the Lord Jesus is all its four Outreach facets; Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.
That is what we want Christian Churches in rural settings to experience. And we are determined to assist through availing our own people and also inviting specialised people in certain areas to work with us in this regard. ACTS Fiji is determined to provide training in areas stated to the best of our ability and is also anticipating fruitful and dynamic future for rural churches we work with.
